On The waterfront

Port activities on the eastern waterfront of Mumbai have reduced drastically due to technical constraints and the formation of JNPT. Such phenomena have also been observed for other ports situated in the metropolitan cities, across the globe. These ports have changed their role and developed their port land for Recreation and Tourism along with Commercial activities. On similar lines, Mumbai Port Trust has also decided to change its role and develop the eastern waterfront for Water Transport, Tourism and Recreation. A detailed master plan has been prepared for development of 1000 ha of land. Join Mr. Dilip Shekdar, Architect and Planner associated with MbPT for the planning and design of Eastern waterfront of Mumbai as he explains the efforts made by MBPT to achieve the changing role, various constraints and future plans in this regard.
