The Salt Saga of Bombay

Salt and Mumbai – for most Indians and for those interested in history around the world, these two words together serve as an instant recall of the iconic images of swadeshi volunteers falling to police lathis at the Wadala salt pans during the Salt Satyagraha in 1930. This talk aims to highlight some of these aspects relating to the importance of salt, a common yet unique article, to the land and people of Mumbai.
