Women In Maritime

From Sumati Morarjee, the first woman of Indian shipping, to all the women who fill both shore based and sea going posts today, Maritime industry in India has come a long way. In a historically male dominated industry, women today have been successful in breaking stereotypes and setting new benchmarks. This has helped generate a new perspective inspiring a whole new generation of women seafarers. Whilst International Woman's Day has a history of over a century, International Day for Women in Maritime  will be celebrated for the first time on May 18, 2022. This celebration is aimed at bringing together, highlighting, making visible and supporting women in the Maritime sector across the globe. Let us celebrate the pioneering women from Maritime Industry of India to help raise awareness and pave way for many more women to adopt and pursue a career path in the maritime sector.
