Sopara Tales

Referred to as Supparaka, Surparaka, Sophir, Ophir and Ouppara; present day Nala Sopara has a history that dates back to over two millennia as an ancient center of commercial & religious significance that grew around the port of Sopara. It was one of the early ports of North Konkan (Aparanta) and a noted Buddhist & Jain center. Soparas Maritime links are well chronicled by travellers of the time. This walk conducted by Hallu Hallu will take us on a journey back in time to explore the religious & commercial importance of this ancient Port town of Sopara through the architectural relics of the region.
