The release of our book "Gateways To The Sea: Historic Ports and Docks of Mumbai Region", on April 1, 2024, which was in the making since May 2022, saw its formal and official launch on Saturday June 22 at the iconic Raj Bhavan in the august presence of His Excellency, the Honorable Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Ramesh Bais along with all our Authors, editors, team MMMS & Publications Division representative Ms Sangeeta Godbole along with their DD team. At Raj Bhavan, it was a simple yet very memorable and significant ceremony.
The Raj Bhavan ceremony was followed by a more informal & interactive celebration at the Durbar Hall of The Asiatic Society of Mumbai, with our co-hosts for the evening, the Mumbai Research Center of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai.The Durbar Hall was packed to capacity with a very scholarly audience and the panel discussion conducted by MMMS President Capt Kapildev Bahl and MC Cmde Srikant Kesnur with each one of the 17 authors and 2 editors, giving further insight into each of the chapters in the book, stole the show and kept the audience engaged and entertained for nearly two hours.
The two events on Saturday, June 22, 2024, thus mark the culmination of a two year long project that our team worked diligently towards, making the impossible possible.
